Terms of Service

What PDFKit is

PDFKit provides free, browser-based PDF processing tools powered by AI. You can redact sensitive information, extract tables to Excel, convert PDFs to Markdown, and more. No account is required. You upload a file, we process it, and you download the result.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload files containing illegal content, including child sexual abuse material, content that violates export controls, or content that infringes on the rights of others.
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits or abuse the service through automated scraping, bot traffic, or other means.
• Use the service in any way that disrupts, damages, or impairs it for other users.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of our processing systems.

We reserve the right to block access for users who violate these rules.

Free tier limits

The free tier has the following limits per user:

• Maximum file size: 25 MB
• Maximum pages per document: 100
• Rate limit: 10 jobs per hour
• Daily limit: 30 jobs per day

These limits may change. We will make reasonable efforts to communicate changes, but we reserve the right to adjust limits to keep the service running smoothly for everyone.

Your files and intellectual property

You retain full ownership of every file you upload and every file you download. PDFKit does not claim any intellectual property rights over your content.

By uploading a file, you grant us a temporary, limited license to process that file for the purpose of delivering the service. This license ends when your file is deleted (automatically, within 1 hour).

Disclaimer

PDFKit is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

In particular:

• AI redaction is not guaranteed to be complete. While our AI is designed to detect sensitive information, it may miss some items. Always review redacted documents before sharing them. You are responsible for verifying the results.
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. The service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance or due to technical issues.
• Extracted tables and converted documents may not be pixel-perfect reproductions of the original. Review outputs before relying on them.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PDFKit and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the service. Since the service is provided free of charge, our total liability for any claim related to the service shall not exceed $0.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to PDFKit at any time, for any reason, without notice. Since there are no user accounts, this typically means blocking an IP address or IP range. You may stop using the service at any time.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of PDFKit after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which PDFKit operates, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
