Frequently asked
How much smaller will my PDF get?
It depends entirely on the file. PDFs full of high-resolution photos or scans typically shrink 50-80%. Text-heavy PDFs that were already optimized may only shed 5-15%.
Will the text still be selectable and searchable?
Yes. We only recompress embedded raster images — text, fonts, and vector graphics are untouched.
Is image quality affected?
Slightly. The 'medium' preset (default) targets 75% JPEG quality, which is visually indistinguishable for most uses. The 'high' preset is more aggressive (60% quality, 1024px max width) — best when file size matters more than print sharpness.
What about scanned PDFs?
Scanned PDFs are mostly images, so they get the biggest size reduction. We'll downsample them while keeping them legible.
Is my file private?
The PDF is encrypted in transit, processed on our servers, and auto-deleted within 1 hour. We never train AI on your documents.
